Tooting and Mitcham United 2 v 0 Worthing
Ryman League Division One South Play-Off Semi-Final - Imperial Fields. Att: 364
Tuesday, 29th April 2008
Tooting put themselves through to the final on a rain sodden evening with two goals in the first 11 minutes. Worthing didn't really know what had hit them and looked shell-shocked for much of the first half but they didn't concede again and their fans would have expected better after the break. Sadley for them it didn't happen and the game ended with a comfortable win for the home side. This sets up the Play-Off Final, also at Imperial Fields but who they will play remains undecided after the match between Metropolitan Police and Cray Wanderers fell foul of the weather.
Tooting's performance was as good as I have seen this season and they will be full of confidence for the final game. Worthing, who also had a man sent off and several booked, will be disappointed to have given such a poor showing and to allow their season to fizzle out as it did. The pitch, despite the heavy rain, played well and the puddles, much evident before the game, had no impact on play or the result.
