Crystal Palace 2 v 0 Scunthorpe United
Championship - Selhurst Park Stadium. Att: 15,975
Saturday, 12th April 2008
A very steady and assured performance makes it 9 games without defeat and strengthens the claim on a play-off place. Other results also went with Palace with none of the teams at the top wanting to stake a claim for promotion. It is not inconceivable that Palace could even be in touching distance of automatic promotion by the time the last game of the seaon comes back to Selhurst Park in 3 weeks time.
For Scunthorpe it marked the end of their Championship adventure. Defeat today guaranteed relegation after just one season up in the 2nd tier. But they played their part in the game and could have scored after they hit the post late in the 2nd half. But in truth the game was all over after rookie Victor Moses tormented the Scunny defence and produced two crosses that were gifts for both Soares and Morrison who put Palace in the driving seat. After that the result was not in doubt but Palace pulled their foot off the pedal and eased to another win.
