Leatherhead Youth 3 v 2 Croydon Athletic Youth
Ryman Youth League - Fetcham Grove. Att: 53
Monday, 14th April 2008
A sending off after just 22 minutes proved to be crucial in the end as the Croydon boys ran out of steam and failed to stop the league leaders from strengthening their grip on the Youth League title. Croydon had already scored when Matthew Way was sent off after being adjudged harshly to have jumped with studs showing. Croydon, down to 10-men, then stretched their lead but had their lead halved by half-time. The home side looked stronger in the 2nd half and Croydon became more stretched as they struggled to keep in front.
It took a penalty to give Leatherhead the chance to draw level and then a late winner secured the points for the home side. The league title is not all over but Leatherhead, who still have to play 2nd placed Kingstonian twice and also visit Croydon, are in poll position.
