Nearly the final nail in the coffin...

Fulham 1 v 3 Sunderland
Premier League - Craven Cottage. Att: 25,053
Saturday, 5th April 2008

Fulham are on the edge of relegation after a home defeat by Sunderland. Sunderland were promoted last season and look to have secured another season in the top flight with the recent run of wins. Fulham must now taregt Bolton Wanderers and Birmingham City if they are going to have any chance of retaining their top flight status after 7 years. As one depressed fan said on the radio "The last time they were relegated it took them 33 years to get back!"

The game saw two goals scored by Sunderland either side of the half-time break. The home side had been having a good share of the play but without really testing the visitors. David Healy was introduced and scored a fine goal to give Fulham a glimpse of hope but Sunderland hit back straight away to restore their advantage and kill off any chance of the home side taking a point.
