And now another new era begins...

Croydon Athletic 1 v 1 Leatherhead
Ryman League Division One South - Keith Tuckey Stadium. Att: 117
Saturday, 1st March 2008

The era of Dave Garland began last Tuesday with a draw against Burgess Hill Town and continued to remain undefeated after another draw. Jerry Scola was sacked last week and the former Dulwich Hamlet and Crystal Palace Under 18 boss, Dave Garland put in charge. He has a long association with the game and plenty of experience.

The match was not one of the best. Arriving with only moments to spare due to traffic congestion the visitors pressed for most of the first half. The goal, when it came, was from the penalty spot after Adam Wadmore had handled the ball in front of his face on the line. The penalty and sending off were inevitable. Leatherhead's lead was probably deserved on the balance of play and they could have gone in further ahead but for some good saves and poor finsihing.

The second half saw the remaining 10-men put in a spirited display. Unlike the first half the visitors rarely troubled the Rams 'keeper although an equalising goal seemed a little too much to ask. That was until the final moments of the game when a long free-kick right into the area was finished by Daniel Bennett at the far post and the points shared. Leatherhead will consider it 2 points lost but the guts and determination of the second half meant it was a deserved draw for the Rams.
