Croydon Athletic 3 v 1 Corinthian Casuals
Ryman League Division One South - Keith Tuckey Stadium. Att: 103
Saturday, 29th December 2007
After a run of bad results it was an important game for the Rams and they needed to get back to winning ways against one of the teams near the bottom. Their last home game had been against bottom of the table Molesey who had won only their second game of the season. It seemed that it was about to be a repeat as Casuals took the lead after 19 minutes. A penalty was awarded and although it was a soft one it came after the Casuals forward was given a little too much time on the ball in the area and the ball should have been cleared.
Trailing 0-1 at half-time they also found themselves playing against 10-men. Casuals forward was sent off for an off-the-ball incident that later was suggested as a 'poke in the eye'. The second half saw a better performance and Rams got back level after Moses Ademola finished well at the near post. It visibly gave him confidence and he went on to complete his hat-trick with two further goals both from breakaways. The scoreline, over the 90 minutes, was probably slightly flattering but Croydon needed this win.
