Crystal Palace 2 v 1 Plymouth Argyle
Championship - Selhurst Park Stadium. Att: 15,097
Saturday, 22nd December 2007
New manager Neil Warnock seems to be turning it around and all on the back of a couple of loan signings and a newly installed level of passion. Today's victory makes it 10 matches without defeat and eases the team up to 10th in the table.
Two first half goals, one each from Clint Hill and James Scowcroft, put the home side 2-0 at the break leaving the fans wondering the last time that that happened. An early 2nd half goal gave some hope to the visitors but they didn't really test Palace's 'keeper with a few shots only going straight at him. Palace again introduced Sean Scannell half way through the 2nd period and although he didn't score this week the 17-year-old continued to demonstrate that he is not out of place with the 1st team.
Two away games over the coming few days will see out a turbulant 2007 for Palace. Warnock has given renewed hope and if they maintain their unbeaten run they really will be knocking on the play-off door by the time I see them again.
