The National Anthems of the United Kingdom and the United States heralded the start of this friendly game between the parent club and their rookie counterparts for the USA's National Soccer League Division 2. After a good inaugural season and a fifth place finish, one off the play-offs, they concluded their season with a visit to Selhurst Park.
The game was not a classic but the event was entertaining as a reasonably strong Crystal Palace side gave their visitors due respect. In return, CPFC USA, showed why they had had the season they had and held on to a respectable score. It could have been more than just the Matt Lawrence goal as Dichov and Sherringham hit the post but at the end of the evening it proved a fair result.
