A spectacular goal...

Croydon Athletic 2 v 2 Worthing
Ryman Division One South - Keith Tuckey Stadium. Att: 138
Tuesday, 21st August 2007

A spectacular first half opener by Reggie Savage is a candidate for goal of the season already. A swift move down the Croydon right saw the ball lobbed into Savage who hit a remarkable shot first time into the roof of the net passed a helpless 'keeper.

This goal came slightly against the run of play as a physically strong Worthing side tried to overpower their oppenents. Their first equaliser, when it came, was a simple goal for Worthing. Poor marking and a vacant back post allowed for a simple header to squeeze passed the goalkeeper to bring Worthing level. Savage hit a second good strike to restore Croydon's advantage before a mix-up in the Croydon defence and hesitation by the goalkeeper caused a needless challenge just inside the box to gift Worthing a penalty. Croydon had the chance to go ahead again when Savage burst through the otherwise strong Worthing defence and race toward an exposed goalkeeper. His shot flew tamely into the grateful 'keeper's arms.

An entertaining game and Croydon won't face the likes of Worthing every week.
