Out cold...

Croydon Athletic 2 v 1 Cray Wanderers
Ryman Division One South - Keith Tuckey Stadium. Att: 125
Saturday, 25th August 2007

Another reasonable performance sees the Rams remain undefeated after three games and has them in 5th place at this stage. They began well in sweltering conditions and looked comfortable for the first 30 minutes. They took the lead through Reggie Savage after 8 minutes with a well taken goal after he broke away following a defensive mix-up, he was helped by the goalkeeper slipping but he kept his head. Croydon began to make hardwork of the game by giving away needless possession but always look comfortable at the back

They added a second, again through Savage, his fifith in three games, after a tidy move and flick on by Moses Ademola. Cray tried to claim offside but to no avail and the two goal cushion looked enough to see a first home victory. With a few minutes to go and after the award of a fortunate corner following what appeared to be an unfair challenge on the Rams goalkeeper, Cray pulled one back setting up a frantic last couple of minutes.

But it was a long time before the final whistle eventually blew. A hard but fair challenge in midfield left the Rams Frankie Warren laying on the floor motionless. When the game stopped a few moments later the concern amongst the players was all too obvious and he lay unconscious for a few moments. The Rams trainers worked on him and gradually brought him around much to the relief of the anxious spectators. The game finished a full 12 minutes late but with Croydon holding on for all 3 points.
