First match of the season...

Whyteleafe 3 v 3 Leyton
Friendly - Church Lane, Whyteleafe
Saturday, 28th July 2007

It is hard to imagine how so unlike a 3-3 draw this game was. 0-0 at half time was a fair reflection of the number of chances and, if truth be told, there was not very many chances in the second half but we were blessed with 6 goals including 2 penalties.

Leyton FC (founded in 1868) claim to be the oldest football club in London and presented a test for Whyteleafe. I felt that both sides cancelled each other out but being from a league below I would imagine that 'The Leafe' would feel happier than Leyton.

Around 150 hardy souls turned up for the game. Three times Whyteleafe went in front and three times they were pegged back. On balance a draw was a fair result and although you cannot gauge too much from a friendly I didn't see anything that would concern me with regard to Whyteleafe who are rivals of Croydon Athletic.
